WHERE TO ACCESS THE DATA FROM THE
COPERNICUS MARINE DATA STREAM

COPERNICUS ONLINE DATA ACCESS (CODA)

A download service that offers all the recently acquired Sentinel-3 marine and atmospheric products through a rolling dataset that (at a maximum) spans 12 months.

DATA CENTER

An ordering application that enables users to browse and select products, from EUMETSAT’s long-term archive, including the Copernicus Sentinel-3 marine and atmospheric products.

THE COPERNICUS MARINE ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING SERVICE (CMEMS)

The website provides operational information on the oceans, building on the success of the MyOcean projects funded through the European Union framework programmes. Observational products from the marine service are delivered by thematic assembly centres (TACs) under different topics including Ocean colour, sea ice, SST, sea level, wind and waves. These products typically include combinations of satellite data from the Sentinels and other sources, and/or in situ data, and are available as reprocessed (historical time series) and/or near real-time (NRT).

SOFTWARE AND TOOLS FOR
WORKING WITH MARINE SATELLITE DATA

SNAP

The European Space Agency (ESA) have developed a series of toolboxes for working with data from the Sentinel satellites. These can be downloaded from the Sentinel Toolbox Exploitation Platform (STEP). The toolboxes share a common architecture called the Sentinel Application Platform (SNAP). SNAP is available for Windows, Mac and UNIX systems. To download and select the download of the Sentinel Toolboxes suitable for your operating system.

EXAMPLE PYTHON CODE AND DATA

MONITORING THE OCEANS FROM SPACE:
A MASSIVE ONLINE OPEN COURSE (MOOC) ON THE ROLE OF SATELLITE EARTH OBSERVATION IN OCEAN MONITORING.

This Copernicus/EUMETSAT course will introduce you to the powerful role of satellite ‘Earth observation’ (EO) technology in monitoring our oceans, and to the beautiful and inspiring nature of the imagery and data it produces. This website provides all of the core videos, images, text and links to further reading from the original course on an open and continuous basis. The videos can be streamed or downloaded, and all images and transcripts are also available to download.
